Alverne is a relaxed and inviting restaurant, a popular all-day venue in Penzance, run by the friendly and talented Heywood family.
The outside area is a suntrap, and ideal for watching the world go by. The interior is pleasantly light and airy, with exposed stone, careful lighting, soothing sofas and a welcoming dining area.
Chef and owner, Deryk Heywood offers a creative menu of British and Mediterranean dishes that are cooked with flair and served with charm. Using a mix of local produce and premium Spanish meats and cheeses, the style is simple, modern European cooking. Small tapas dishes are designed as starters or a snack to accompany a glass of wine from the intimate bar.
The specials board above the fireplace showcases the fish of the day from Newlyn with, for example, pollack with chickpeas, rocket and tapenade.
The lunchtime menu features lots of tasty light meals whilst the evening menu has plenty of local meat such as rib-eye steak, chicken and pork belly. Vegetarian options are always on the menu along with carefully selected house and table wines.

All day from 9am serving breakfast, coffee and pastries, lunch, afternoon teas and dinner.
