The Falmouth Packet
If you want delicious fresh food with a great local pedigree, you should try a visit to the Falmouth Packet.
This has been a locals’ pub for generations, but has now developed a reputation for its quality menu, fresh ingredients and friendly service.
It’s run by husband and wife team Matthew and Michelle Rowe. Matthew is an award-winning chef, (gold recently in the Taste of the West‘s Dining Pub category and an entry in ‘The Great Cornish Food Book’) and Michelle works front of house with an enthusiastic team.
Most of the ingredients are sourced within a 12-mile radius of the pub, with Cornish beef and local vegetables and potatoes from nearby farms and growers as well as fish from St Ives and Newlyn.
The menu is carefully put together to offer variety and value to diners. There is a daily specials menu which features a changing number of starters and main courses with good-sized portions.
The pub interior has been refurbished, with a combination of wooden tables, muted colours and good lighting. The effect is clean, comfortable and relaxed.
There’s a selection of real ales, including Tribute, Doom Bar and several local brews, including Tater Du from the Penzance Brewing Company.
Open seven days a week until late throughout the summer. See website for winter hours, plus details of afternoon teas and Sunday roasts.
