Scarlet Wines
Scarlet Wines is a wine shop, deli and restaurant but the restaurant started as an afterthought.
“We just wanted to serve the wines we loved with some simple bread and cheese, perhaps a cold meat plate,” says proprietor Jon Keast, “but it took off beyond our wildest dreams and now serving fresh authentic seasonal food is a massive part of the Scarlet experience.”
Jon runs the restaurant with his wife Sarah, offering breakfast, lunch and evening dinner. It’s hearty, local, authentic food cooked with care and skill. And it still goes perfectly with their wines.
Chef Olly is cited as their ‘secret weapon’ helping carve out a great food identity.
“It is all about authentic local, seasonal ingredients like St Ives’ beef, sea samphire gathered from the rocks, mackerel caught by Trevor in St Ives Bay and spicy leaves from Heather’s garden at Trencrom.”
There are no bought in sauces or stocks, no short cuts, everything made from the ground up. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing, intimate and fun. In the winter the Scandinavian woodburner keeps things cosy and in summer you can stretch out in the sun on the patio. Dogs and even children welcomed.
Open daily for breakfast 9 - 11.30am and lunch 12 - 3pm. Dinner 6 - 9pm (Summer Wed - Sun, Winter Fri - Sun).
