Feel instantly welcomed into this celebration of ‘what lies beneath’ the Cornish coastline. Chat over works in progress. Experience walls of vibrant underwater cliff faces that sing with anemones, mackerel shoal passing by, seaweed studies expertly stitched into handmade textile hangings.
Jo swims regularly in the cove, five minutes walk from the studio, roams the rockpools and caves, delighting in the details of colour, texture and patterns. The hidden gems she finds are brought to the surface by her unusual, playful and skillful mix of textile techniques. Working closely with divers, marine ecologists and fishermen brings a little of everyone’s experience of the sea to us through her work.
Prints and cards complement large framed originals. Other pieces include signature hummingbird eco-sculptures, and sought-after ‘Stitch Maps’ quirkily explore our sense of place.
It’s well worth making this part of a visit to St Agnes, where you can explore the stunning cliffs and cove and enjoy award-winning eateries close by.
