The New Gallery Portscatho
The New Gallery Portscatho is an artists’ run gallery and studio established in 1984 and subject of the book ‘Portscatho portrait of a Cornish Art colony’ published by Halsgrove in 2006.
Artists include Chris and Andrea Insoll, the late Grace Gardner, Trevor Felcey, Eric Ward, David Shutt, Philippa Savage, Sue Davis, Jenny Shaw-Browne, Howard Milton and Alice Mumford as well as visiting artists associated with the Portscatho arts community.
Toby Insoll, a qualified Fine Arts Trade Guild commended framer, has his workshop nearby – see below.
The gallery has attracted a large number of collectors from all over the world, as well as the many artists who have joined them to work and exhibit for over 30 years. It is a community of artists first and a showroom second.
Regular exhibitors enjoy a sense of community as well as selling their paintings to a wide public. This also helps them become an attractive proposition for other galleries to exhibit work by Portscatho Artists outside of the county.
Customers can arrange to meet the artists as well as purchase work from them. This has helped the New Gallery Portscatho maintain its position as one of the most popular galleries in Cornwall.
