Back Road Artworks
Back Road Artworks is an exciting joint venture between Christine Allen, Jenny Frey, John Greig, Doris Lindemann, Kathryn Loveluck and Sally MacCabe which first opened in December 2012.
Located in the quaint Downalong area of St Ives and in the former premises of the renowned Stevens Fish Shop, Back Road Artworks is a large, inviting studio space. The collective of six local artists permanently show their paintings, but visitors are also offered the opportunity to see the artists at work. The central area of the gallery is a workspace, full with easels, art materials and work in progress and the gallery is rehung every month which keeps the display fresh and interesting for visitors.
Also held in the same creative space are painting classes and private tuition by Doris Lindemann and mixed media workshops with Sally MacCabe. Any of these day schools can be tailor-made and arranged for a date to suit students.
Alongside the wall-hung paintings, you will also find on display a large range of semi-precious stone and beaded jewellery, together
with book sculptures, artists’
books, knitted scarves and
fused glass pieces.
Situated in the heart of old St Ives, and five minutes walk from The Tate, this studio gallery is a must-see destination for any art lover going to St Ives.
