Why have we changed from publishing magazines to online marketing?
To answer this you need to know just a little about why we first started our business. A trained journalist, Ian started his desk-top publishing business, back in the late 1980′s. He was inspired by the advent of Apple computers and how they were leading the way in local publishing for business.
Initially, the business was focused on helping local businesses with their publishing and then Alison joined in 1991 and we began producing our own publications.
The magazines Inside Cornwall and latterly Taste Cornwall took off and the business grew. The magazines came to represent the core values of the business, primarily to add value and offer a quality service to our customers and readers.
Change was on the way.
Over the past few years with the impact of the internet on all our lives it became clear that we could no longer justify magazine publishing as the only way to add value to our customers. Traditional print publishing was fast losing ground to the internet, a more flexible and immediate medium. By the end of 2009 we needed to change our approach.
For the past 18 months, we have taken a business ‘sabbatical’ and studied internet marketing from the best online marketers in the world. It has become clear to us, that for a business to succeed, it is essential to embrace online communication as wholeheartedly as traditional print and other offline marketing.
What is exciting us.
We believe by combining our offline publishing experience with the new online marketing techniques we have a genuine and powerful mix to offer local business.
