Hell Fire Corner
Events – Hell Fire Corner
The first play ever written by Redruth-born novelist and poet D M Thomas tells a tale, never told before, of bal maidens, a world famous rugby player and tin miners, their loves, losses and laughter. In Hell Fire Corner, Thomas has created a rich montage, layered with textures and facets of Cornish life. Tin mining, mass emigration, Methodist preaching are all overlaid with the pride of Cornish rugby.

Hell Fire Corner, a Mundic Nation and Hall for Cornwall Production, will be staged at The Hall for Cornwall from Thursday 29 April to Saturday 8 May at 7.30pm.

Trewithen Gardens

Lifestyle – Trewithen Gardens
Beauty is more than skin deep – especially when it comes to plants, says the owner of one of the county’s most historic and exotic gardens. Michael Galsworthy feels there is more to enjoy than the dramatic hues and shades of Spring of Trewithen Garden near Grampound, Truro.

Cornwall’s Vice Lord Lieutenant is also keen to encourage visitors to explore the form and shape of the plants in his garden. Over the last few years he has introduced one of his personal passions – sculpture – and plans more in the future.

Trengilly Wartha Inn Food – Trengilly Wartha Inn
You only have three weeks from the end of April to make the most of one of Cornwall’s ‘short season’ delicacies – the Cornish Early new potato. Following a successful campaign last year, the Cornish Early is now in all major supermarkets in Cornwall, carrying its own logo. Mike Maguire, top chef and partner of the award-winning Trengilly Wartha Inn is fronting the campaign, along with local producers and Cornwall Taste of the West. Trengilly is currently the Cornwall Tourism Awards ‘Pub of the Year’ and was The Cornwall Dining Pub of the Year for three years running.
